Requirements for All Volunteers: Virtus Training and Background Screening
The Catholic Diocese of Richmond is committed to ensuring that diocesan institutions and ministries provide a safe and nurturing environment for children, young people, and vulnerable individuals. The mission of the diocese Safe Environment Program is to create a safe environment incorporating the standards as outlined in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
Requirements for All Volunteers with Access to Minors (updated July 1, 2024)
Following the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People and the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, all volunteers who work with or have access to children/youth must complete the Virtus training program, “Protecting God’s Children for Adults,” and complete a yearly background screening. Both requirements apply to anyone volunteering at Saint Bridget School and must be met before being approved to volunteer.
If you plan to participate in school events, you should attend Virtus training now since sessions can fill quickly. Events include but are not limited to, field trips, coaching, classroom mystery reading, volunteering in any capacity at school, and any events where children are present. Click here to complete the background screening and register for Virtus training. Once you complete it, submit a copy of the Virtus training certificate to Adelaide Grandfield, Safe Administrative Assistant, at agrandfield@saintbridget.
