Museum of Very Fine Arts Show 2014

Posted on May 9, 2014

EcoArt was the theme for this year’s art show. Each grade focused on a different type of art inspired by nature. For example: Native VA Bird watercolors with sculpted nests, a forest made out of newspaper and recycled hand made paper, relief sculptures about making Richmond more sustainable, and so on.

First grade made Sturgeons using paints and pastels. Their sturgeons were displayed on the “James River” that included the train trestle and were hung as if they were swimming through the river. In class, first graders learned about the  sturgeons: they have been around since the dinosaurs, historically many groups of people have relied on them for food and now they are coule become extinct if we do not take good care of our River. Students also learned about the James River Association’s initiative to help clean up the River and bring back the sturgeon. Check out their blog about our art show: James River Association Blog

The art show also incorporated augmented reality to enhance the art show experience. Visitors scanned an image to view behind-the-scenes videos of the student artists as they created and described their masterpieces! First Grade Sturgeon Art Video

Book Day 2013

Posted on August 20, 2013

Ah, Book Day, that somewhat chaotic, fast pace, ritual where we all gather to reconnect for the start of the new year! Oh yes, and we give out books. It was great to see and hear the excitement of our students as they gear up for the start of school. To our kindergarten and new students and parents, welcome! To our returning families, welcome! Saint Bridget School is a special school family that has a long history of excellence. Our blessings are many and for all of them, we give thanks to our Father in Heaven.

I wish each of you the best year ever. May we continue to learn together!
